WAVY Littoral Test Campaign on the Catalan coast

A Test Campaign with the WAVY Littoral took place in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Spain) at Platja del Far beach, on the 19th December 2019.

The campaign was held by our partner Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTech (UPC), Vilanova I la Geltrú’s town hall and Espai Far. The university invited the high school students from IES Manuel de Cabanyes to assess the WAVY Littoral performance tracking rip currents.

The activities started with a briefing of the WAVY Littoral, WAVY Operational SoftwareData Catalogue and Geoportal. Then, MELOA team divided the 30 students into groups and challenged them to use the WavyHub mobile app to explore and configure the WAVY drifters.

Finally, the students were invited to launch the WAVY drifters to the sea and track the WAVY trajectory through their mobiles.
